That’s exactly what this local Football club in Eltham SE9 did when this old Milners safe would not open.
They didn’t make it any easier by flooding the complete door with WD40, which will never open a mechanical failure, though luckily some ‘hero’ didn’t force the key with pliers or a screwdriver for once!
